ACADEMIC
The high school years are a pivotal point in a student-athlete's life. The Maine Jr. Mariners Academy is an innovative way to combine hockey development with academic excellence. Whether preparing for future NCAA opportunities in the classroom or on the ice, it is essential that emphasis is placed on individual growth during these formative years.
Our Academy's model provides an environment that eliminates the time, logistics, and frustration associated with balancing hockey training and academic advancement. Our goal is to encourage, support, and partner with our students to develop their mental, physical, athletic, and scholastic potential.
As a student-athlete at Maine Jr. Mariners Academy, our students reside in St. Joseph's College dorm facilities, attend Thornton Academy in person, one of the top prep schools in the country known for its rigorous academics, exceptional faculty, and history of preparing students for collegiate success, or take level 100 courses at St. Joseph’s College to maintain NCAA eligibility. Athletes train and practice up to five times per week, with all strength, conditioning, and recovery workouts led by Skolfield Sports Performance, ensuring professional, personalized training. Students may also continue with any schooling they are currently enrolled in. Offering all of these essential components within one program, along with current NCAA hockey coaches on staff, removes common hurdles such as NCAA eligibility concerns, long commutes to practice, late-night study sessions, homeschooling challenges, or living away from a familiar campus environment.
Through our unique leadership development and life skills training, our student-athletes are prepared for life’s future challenges after graduation and positioned to succeed at the next level.
